Hardware Systems Engineer

The KARL STORZ OR1 Division is seeking an experienced Hardware Systems Engineer who will be responsible for system-level technical design, including defining system architecture. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with product management, systems integration engineers, and the development team to design a product that fulfills customer, manufacturing, service, market and regulatory requirements.
System Design
Develop and maintain ownership of the system architecture documentation.
Decompose the system (product) requirements into hardware, software, and mechanical design specifications.
Develop analytical and test methods to objectively quantify system's operation and performance.
Track and review the detailed hardware, software, and mechanical design to ensure it meets the objective and requirements identified in the system documents and that all components will work seamlessly together as one system.
Work closely with design service companies to make sure designs meet the product specifications.
Help to develop and execute a plan for integration and test of product components comprising the system. Review system verification plan and system verification procedures.
Research and Development
Research and develop new technology for use in future and existing OR1 products.
Perform system analysis, modeling, and proof-of-concept projects to prove out new concepts or technology.
Document the results of the analyses in technical reports.
Sustaining Support
Provide sustaining support for existing product lines. This may include analysis of field issues and/or analysis of manufacturing issues. Recommend, where appropriate, design system changes.
Will spend part of his/her time as a member of continuous improvement teams undertaking projects and seeking ways to improve the quality of existing products and services.
Aid in the documentation of system changes.
Mentor junior engineers.
BS / Masters in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
10+ years industry experience followed with 3+ years in the role of Hardware Systems Engineer.
Experience with all of the product development life cycle. Must have significant experience with ownership of developing end-to-end products at the box level and/or system level.
Understands how to translate product requirements into design specifications to meet key product development objectives.
Expert level skills in documenting and communicating system design deliverables and drawings.
Firm understanding of networks (protocols, topologies, etc.).
Experience with video systems and video-over-IP technology.
Broad understanding of analog and digital hardware design with expertise in troubleshooting issues down to the component level of circuit boards.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Highly desirable to have medical systems product design experience

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
