Payroll Specialist

Job Description
The Payroll Specialist coordinates the timely and accurate processing of payroll data. The Payroll Specialist is also responsible for manual garnishment calculations and handling confidential material.
This will be a temporary position lasting approximately 4-6 months.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Payroll Specialist enters payroll data, computes and posts wages and reconciles errors to maintain payroll records.
The Payroll Specialist will handle employee payroll and file maintenance.
The Payroll Specialist will handle manual garnishment calculations and maintenance as needed.
The Payroll Specialist will handle time sheet and wage validation
The Payroll Specialist will maintain paid time off registers.
The Payroll Specialist will manage work flow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
The Payroll Specialist is able to deal sensitively with confidential material.
The Payroll Specialist handles other responsibilities as assigned.
The Payroll Specialist must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
The Payroll Specialist must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.
The Payroll Specialist must have proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
The Payroll Specialist must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
The Payroll Specialist must have the ability to learn Company project management systems.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
Must have a minimum of 3-4 years' experience processing multi-state payroll.
Must have working knowledge of payroll best practices.
Must have strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
